General Information
Kütahya Dumlupınar University's Tavşanlı Faculty of Applied Sciences was established by Council of Ministers Decree No. 2012/2853 dated February 17, 2012. Initially, the school did not accept students, but since 2015, it has been accepting students for the "Tourism and Hotel Management" program. Pursuant to the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette No. 30651 dated January 10, 2019, the school's name has been changed to Tavşanlı Faculty of Applied Sciences.
Our faculty began its educational activities in September 2015 at the Tavşanlı Vocational School Service Building, located 3 km along the Balıkesir Road, and moved to its own building in March 2018. Our faculty's infrastructure and environmental facilities offer advantages over many similar institutions. We strive to utilize these advantages to enhance the quality of education and benefit the environment.
Our faculty offers four years of education, offering both theoretical and practical courses. Internships are offered to help our students adapt to the industry and apply what they learn in school to their professional lives. Students in the Tourism Management Department, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, and Recreation Management Department are required to complete three summer internships at tourism-related businesses as a mandatory part of their education. Furthermore, the Management Information Systems Department, which is scheduled to accept students next semester, plans to implement a 7+1 Vocational Business Education program. This will provide our students with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with various sectors and their operational procedures, and to enhance their personal and professional development.
Following their four-year undergraduate education, our faculty graduates will have the opportunity to work in mid- and senior-level management positions in accommodation establishments, food and beverage establishments, travel agencies, the tourism sector, public institutions and organizations, and other related fields, based on their education and experience. Our graduates also have the opportunity to pursue academic careers by pursuing postgraduate studies.
Tavşanlı Faculty of Applied Sciences, where university-environmental cooperation is actively implemented, provides university-environmental collaboration through environmental activities such as courses, conferences, etc. during academic years. Additionally, internship opportunities are provided for students during their vacation periods in collaboration with businesses.
