Conference On Combating Violence Against Women Held

On April 28, 2026, a conference on "Combating Violence Against Women" was held at our Faculty, presented by Psychologist Gizem Güler Can. The conference addressed the issue of violence against women, providing students with information on physical, psychological, economic, digital, and verbal forms of violence. It was emphasized that violence against women is not only an individual problem but also a societal one, and its effects on women's social lives, education, psychology, and safety were explained. Information was also provided on legal rights, support mechanisms, and relevant institutions that can be accessed in the face of violence.
During the conference, the KADES application, developed to help women receive support in emergencies, was introduced. The purpose of the application, how to use it, and how it provides rapid support in emergencies were explained to the students through examples. In addition, the importance of students not remaining silent in the face of violence, acting consciously, and contacting official institutions when necessary was emphasized.
It was stated that the event was held exclusively for female students; the aim was to raise awareness among women regarding safety, rights, and issues of understanding. It was also stated that similar training and awareness-raising activities for male students are planned to be organized in the future in order to increase social awareness.
