Awareness Seminar On Bank Account Rental, Internet and Social Media Fraud, and Online Gambling.

On February 18, 2026, a seminar titled "Awareness Seminar on Bank Account Rental, Internet and Social Media Fraud, and Online Betting" was held in collaboration with Tavşanlı Faculty of Applied Sciences, Tavşanlı Vocational School, and Tavşanlı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The event, held in the Tavşanlı Vocational School Conference Hall, featured Public Prosecutors Arslan Tunç, Harun Patir, and Burak Beytar as speakers. Our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Aydın Kayabaşı, Tavşanlı Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. İsmet Çelik, Tavşanlı Gendarmerie Commander J. Lt. İsmail Bayar, District Police Chief Güven Türkmen, academic and administrative staff, and students participated in large numbers.
The seminar covered in detail methods of fraud carried out via the internet and social media, crimes committed through bank account rental, and the legal consequences of online betting activities. Participants were provided with comprehensive information on methods of protection against such crimes. Speakers highlighted that sharing IBAN, bank card, or account information in exchange for promises of easy money can lead to serious criminal penalties. In this context, it was stated that individuals involved in such acts could face imprisonment of 3 to 10 years, have their accounts blocked, and suffer negative effects on their criminal records.
Prosecutors also emphasized that individuals who allow third parties to use their bank accounts could be prosecuted as the primary perpetrators of the crime, and stressed the importance of absolutely rejecting suspicious messages, advertisements, and rental offers. The importance of contacting the relevant law enforcement agencies in such cases was highlighted. It was particularly emphasized that renting a bank account, while seemingly an innocent transaction, carries a significant risk with serious legal consequences.
The program concluded after a question-and-answer session. At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were presented to the participating speakers for their contributions.
