Baklava Workshop

On December 12, 2025, our Faculty's Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, in collaboration with Efeoğlu Baklava, conducted a "Baklava Workshop" as part of a university-industry partnership. The training, held within the scope of the "Turkish Culture and Culinary Practices II" course for 4th-year Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students, featured Mevlüt Efe and Murat Tınaz as instructor chefs.
The training covered the historical development, cultural significance, and production techniques of baklava, a significant representative of the deep-rooted dessert tradition of Turkish cuisine, through practical applications. Participating students had the opportunity to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge regarding dough-making techniques, filling ratios, and baking processes used in baklava production. During the practical phase of the training, students combined their acquired knowledge and techniques with creative interpretations to develop their own unique sauces, which they then served in plate designs reflecting their personal presentation style. Thus, the event was not limited solely to teaching traditional baklava production; The program has transformed into a holistic learning experience where students can showcase their creativity, aesthetic perceptions, and gastronomic expression skills.
The program concluded with the Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Eren, expressing his gratitude to the instructors for sharing their knowledge and experience with the students.
